Welcome

Welcome to saucerpass.com, a different type of fantasy hockey site on the web. We provide updates with a more in-depth analysis and many different articles on various topics relating to fantasy hockey and the NHL in general.

Get to know the writers

SaucerPass.com is currently operated by a handful of fantasy hockey fanatics led by Kory and Schrembs. We decided it would be fun and useful to others to start writing articles and share our general thoughts on one of our favorite hobbies: fantasy hockey. So far it has turned out well and we’re churning out quality content slowly but surely, and regularly, which will soon be including a weekly podcast sometime in the future. We’ve all been hockey fans for a while and have all been playing multiple types of fantasy hockey for the past several years.

About the Site

Even though there are only two writers at the moment, we did start off with a pretty good stream of content, including a fantasy breakdown of every single NHL team for the past 3 straight seasons. Since then we have built up a nice post base of over 360 articles on various different fantasy hockey and general NHL related news and strategies to win your fantasy pool. Below we have listed a few example articles we have published in the past.

  1. Fantasy Hockey League Fundamentals – This article discusses 6 fundamentals needed to create a really solid fantasy hockey league.
  2. Roto vs. H2H: Pros and Cons – A couple pros and cons each for rotisserie fantasy hockey format versus the head to head format.
  3. Always Start Your Studs – A simple strategy about always using your best players when available.
  4. Draft Experiment – Interesting take on how to draft players using several very different strategies and following up to see which one is best.

I’m curious on your Penguins assessement for this week. Fleury has been out for over a week with no time-table for his return. Sabourin has played well, but went 1-2 last week against two defensive-minded teams that shut down the Pen’s offense. I would have thought they would have earned at best a ‘use caution’ status considering the uncertainty of Fleury’s injury and who may or may not be starting. Not criticizing your assessment, just curious about it.

Great site and great information though.

Thanks for commenting, Scott. From what I have read from this past weekend and today, Fleury will be back this week. He is listed as day-to-day and Michel Therrien insisted that the injury is not serious whatsoever. They won’t see action until Wednesday against the Islanders, so it allows him a few extra days rest. Even if Sabourin is inserted in to the lineup at the last minute, I think the team around him is good enough to handle 2 struggling squads and a duo of backup tenders in New Jersey. Make sure if you have Fleury to double check before the game on Wednesday to see whether or not he gets the nod. Thanks for the compliment. Hope to hear from you soon.

I think one of the most interesting things you started was the different draft emphasis approaches. However, you haven’t updated how each team is doing in their respective leagues (ytd records, injurys, player transactions, etc.) I would be very interested in knowing how each team is doing so far into the season and how they compare to the others. Thanks.

Thanks for commenting, Paul. To give you an idea of the site schedule, we usually do 1 post per day with the line combo page updating daily. As notable injuries come in, we’ll offer some advice and then place them on the injury page.

The Weekly Goaltending Outlook will be completed by 7pm on Sunday so you can prepare for the upcoming fantasy week.

The Great Draft Experiment is updated every month around the same time.

    Thanks again and good luck.
