Consider David Perron in Keeper Leagues
For those fantasy hockey managers participating in keeper leagues this season, it should be worth noting the situation that up-and-coming winger David Perron finds himself in. Perron is a left winger for the Blues, and at the end of this season, St. Louis will have some decisions to make with their veteran leaders in Paul Kariya and Keith Tkachuk. Both players see time at left wing, but both are getting up there in age, and with the strong youth movement currently taking place in St. Louis, the Blues may have to trim the fat a bit to make room for players like Perron to get their NHL legs.
If Kariya and Tkachuk aren’t with the Blues next season, the opportunity for Perron to nab top line honors on that left side is extremely favorable. He himself is a RFA at the end of this season, but is certainly making a claim for his talents as the the team’s 4th leading scorer right now. The former first rounder would add a nice scoring punch to the McDonald-Boyes tandem in 2010-2011, so if may be worth making a play for him right now. He’s in a bit of a low buy situation being on a Blues team that has trouble scoring from time to time, but his long term value should make up for it.
