TSN is reporting that goaltender Pascal Leclaire has been dealt to the Ottawa Senators for center/winger Antoine Vermette. A 2nd round pick was also exchanged in the deal.
Fantasy Impact on Columbus
Certainly good news for fantasy managers looking for some help at wing. Vermette is only 11% owned in Yahoo! fantasy hockey so there is a good chance that he can be picked up as a flyer down the stretch in most fantasy services as he should factor heavily into the Blue Jacket lineup down the stretch.
Fantasy Impact on Ottawa
Ottawa has finally landed themselves a solid goaltender. One problem. He’s hurt. With Leclaire not expected back possibly until April, he may not factor into this fantasy season. However, he will certainly be in battle for the starting spot in Ottawa next season. Just keep in mind that Leclaire is turning out to be somewhat injury prone, so don’t rule out Brian Elliot or Alex Auld for 2009-2010. Elliot is a RFA at the end of this season and Auld has one more year on his contract.
