Injury Report: Justin Williams & Brad Richards

CBC Canada is reporting that Carolina winger Justin Williams will be out of the lineup yet again. Williams suffered a broken bone in his hand against the Sabres on Sunday and will be out for at least a month.

Fantasy Impact:
Certainly not what the Hurricanes needed as they try and make a push for a final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Williams has been somewhat injury prone over the past two seasons and for owners still putting serious stock in him, it may be time to cut the cord. With Williams out of the lineup, Scott Walker battling and injury and Tuomo Ruutu fairly cold right now, you may need to look towards another team for help at the right wing position. If you’re handcuffed because of balance issues, consider Jussi Jokinen as he may get shuffled around the depth chart to try and accomodate the Hurricanes in this critical period.

USA Today is reporting that Stars center Brad Richards will be out for 5-6 weeks with a broken wrist.

Fantasy Impact:
Another blow to a team competing to maintain a playoff spot in the extremely tight Western Conference. This injury will certainly allow for Mike Modano to jump up a line and possibly allow the Stars to move Steve Ott off the wing position and back to a center spot. There is certainly going to be some line shuffling going on, so check back every couple nights to the line combos page as it is updated with the latest information every day.
