Injury Report: Andy McDonald

The Belleville News Democrat is reporting that Andy McDonald suffered a broken leg in last night’s 3-2 shootout loss to Montreal and could be lost for 8 weeks.

Fantasy Impact:
Apparently when it rains in St. Louis, it pours. The Blues are currently without the services of Dan Hinote, Erik Johnson, Paul Kariya, T.J. Oshie and D.J. King and by adding McDonald to that list, it puts them, and fantasy owners in a real bind. We may have a few ideas to get you out of this bind, however. Center is the deepest of fantasy positions, so a comparable flyer should certainly be there in shallower leagues to get you over the hump. For those of you in deeper leagues with fewer options, consider Patrik Berglund as a filler until McDonald is healthy. Berglund has had a great start to the season and could easily move up in the depth chart if they decide to use Keith Tkachuk as their top line center. If you have the capacity, it may be worthwhile to stash T.J. Oshie on your team until he comes back from injury. He was a highly touted prospect coming in to this season and was playing well before he suffered an ankle sprain. Oshie may be a week or two away from returning, but the Blues will certainly be able to use his services when he returns.
